Why I like blue.

The sea is blue, the sky is blue, and so are some shapes on my stomach and my arms and legs.

New New Dad says that they are mobile marks — motivation — he says they are petrol — something to keep me going. The tips of fingers can make circles, sometimes almost perfect. But nothing really is — even when it looks that way. Especially then, you just need to give it time.

I call them my blue birthmarks that move. They come and go — they leave for holidays, but holidays end and everyone goes back to work.

One day, I wish I could be blue all over so you could not see these marks. No one would ask questions of me with their eyes. I don’t want to be a Smurf — New New Dad calls me that — he says I can produce some of the most beautiful blends of blue. He says it is like I was made with the perfect pigment hidden away, just waiting to be expressed by an artist.

I want to wear a suit like Daredevil’s. A cool one. Just not red. I don’t like red.
